Storage and Handling


Examine the motor carefully on receipt. Notify any loss or damage to the carrier and advice Dealer / Regional office immediately with complete reference of the document and nameplate details. Stare only in a clean, dry place protected against dust, moisture, acid, alkali, oil, dirt and dangerous gases or adjacent to furnace etc.

     

 

 

Installation and Mounting

 

Check the freeness of motor by turning the shaft by hand.

 

Motor should be mounted on a solid, rigid level foundation and free from vibration. The bed plates must be carefully and accurately leveled. Use shims if necessary.

 

Tighten foundation bolts and all fasteners, if found loose.

 

Clean keyway and ensure proper seating of the key in shaft and coupling or 

 

Ensure alignment of motor and drive shaft. Use flexible coupling.

 


The couplings / pulley / pinions fined on the shaft must be balanced properly. The bores should be machined to 1-18 tolerance

 

.
Motors must be installed ma position permitting free flow of clean air and should be available forfull inspection and repair.

 


The supply voltage should be as specified in the name plate.

 


Ensure proper earth connections at the bolt provided for earthing

 


Check the insulation resistance by applying a 500V DC megger. If the insulation is low due to moisture, dry out the stator winding till the insulation resistance increases above 1 Mega Ohm by any of the accepted method (Ref : IS
900.1992)

     

 

 

 

Electrical Connection

 

Ensure power supply system is grounded.

 

Check electrical connections as per the connection diagram mentioned on the backside of the terminal box cover.

 

Wires and connections should be properly insulated. Avoid number of joints in cable.

 

Proper size of cable should be used between the supply and motor terminals.

 

Proper backup protections (reputed make over load, single phasing, under voltage, earth fault devices) should be used

     

 

 

Motor on Load

 

Motors are suitable for either DOL or Star Delta or Auto Transformer starting. When starting with Star Delta Starter, ensure motor picks up full speed at Star before switching to Delta.

 

Check rated voltage at the motor terminal during start up.

 

Full load current should be balanced in all phases and as per data given in the nameplate.

 

Check for any abnormal noise and vibration.

 

Check for any abnormal heating (put a thermometer in the eye bolt hole) Temperature* 90"C.

PIAV Pokers have been designed to minimize operation and maintenance costs, therefore meeting the needs of contractors looking for an economical solution when it comes to internal vibration. The perfectly balanced pendulum resulls in high ovtpot. The PIAV pokers can be driven either by a petrol engine (C12), by a Diesel Engine (4.4HP) or by and electric motor (PIAV2).
